The human immune system is under vital balance and tight regulation to achieve optimal protection for human cells, tissues, and organs against internal and external risks. However, over- or under- activation of the immune system leads to immunopathological conditions of different types (hypersensitivity and tolerance; autoimmunity and immune deficiencies).

This course introduces the human immune system and focuses on pathophysiology/ pharmacotherapy of common immunological disorders. Topics include conditions such as immune deficiencies and autoimmune diseases (e.g.,  rheumatic disease, diabetes mellitus, Addison's disease, AIDS, hepatitis, pernicious anaemia, mephitis, vitiligo, multiple sclerosis).
